Lintuan Beach, in Barangay Lintuan, is among the vivid attractions of Loon in Bohol. Located a few towns north of Tagbilaran City, the capital of Bohol, Lintuan Beach is an accessible tourist destination.

A mere 30 to 40 minute drive from Tagbilaran—or 25 kilometers—is the historic town of Loon. Among its pride is its coastal beauty where Lintuan Beach lies. On the way we pass by Taloto and Tiptip, then Cortes and Lincod. Just before we get to Loon we pass by Dipationg. These are all coastal areas allowing salient views of the Bohol and Visayan Sea and far-off Cebu.

Lintuan Beach is immaculate with its white sand and emerald pristine waters that bare a portion of the deep even at shallow waters. We can enjoy a great deal of white sand here with Lintuan Beach’s long stretch of coastal line. The gentle waters at the shore are safe for children and the abundance of shells is sure to be a delightful treasure to them.

There are numerous fast ferries going to Tagbilaran from Cebu. But the most convenient to take from Cebu are those going to Tubigon directly across taking some 3 hours travel. Then we can go south to Lintuan Beach in Loon. Aside from the beach, Loon prides itself with its centuries-old church with 154 stone steps leading to Napo, an erstwhile town seat. Spaniards forced native slaves to build the church.

Loon being a third class municipality, Lintuan Beach remains rarely discovered among outsiders—which partly explains the unspoiled nature of the place. The deep sea life remains flawless with plenty of corals and fish types visible even at shallow points. A few distance off Lintuan Beach, out there in the high seas, are hammerhead sharks. Dive facilities in nearby towns are available. Far off is a lighthouse and cottage resorts.

Kaingit Beach, Bohol

A secluded and naturally protected shoreline is Kaingit Beach right in Tagbilaran City (not far from the city airport), Bohol. This is probably the safest beach in the province, if not in the entire archipelago.

Kaingit Beach is surrounded by natural barriers at all sides rendering it enclosed in a cove so that the waves are calm and gentle, undulating at the most, even in tough weather. On the east is the whole island of Bohol protecting it from the intermittent northeasterly winds.

On the south of Kaingit Beach is Panglao Island. On the west is the long island strip of Cebu. And on the north is the joint protrusion of Bood and Maribojoc. And farther extreme north is the far-off portion of Cebu.

Thus, more people are noted to flock to this part of Tagbilaran especially on weekends. The waters of Kaingit Beach are most favorable to weekend frolickers who just want to enjoy the frolicsome waves frothing at their feet. At Kaingit Beach is where we can really appreciate the caress of Mother Nature.

Kaingit Beach is not yet that popular among non-residents of Tagbilaran. In fact, online maps on Tagbilaran and Bohol—even localized map versions of each coastal locality of Bohol—do not indicate Kaingit Beach specifically. Online write-up features merely mention it in passing. But the government has stepped in to improve and manage the site to develop it into a better tourist beach destination.

There’s a side street along Graham Avenue in Tagbilaran at the end of which is located Kaingit Beach. And in this vicinity is also found Bohol Tropical Resort. It’s among the high-end resorts of Tagbilaran and boasts of getting a good access to a nice portion of Kaingit Beach. There are other hotels and lodges in the city but the nice thing about Bohol Tropical is that it sits near the shorelines of Kaingit Beach.

Anda Beach, Bohol

If there is one water site in Bohol that is as close to Boracay as it can be, it is none other than Anda Beach.

Anda Beach speaks a lot about how Boracay is. They are alike in may ways. Anda Beach is as much a water paradise as Boracay with its long strait of white sands and crystal blue waters. In some aspects, Anda Beach can be considered even better than Boracay!

For one, Anda Beach does not feature any kind of marine life offshore. There is no disturbance whatsoever of creatures or forms that can be found in its long stretch of powdery sanded beach. The sands are purely, sands.

Another amazing fact is that Anda Beach is wonderfully situated at the humble municipality of Anda. It is about 101 kilometers away from Tagbilaran City, Bohol’s capital. The place is so organized that you will never have a hard time going around. A stretch of buildings and a church paves the way to the public beach, which has no kind of obstruction whatsoever built around. All that you can see upon entering Anda Beach are countless coconut palm trees that further the tropical appeal of the place.

There are numerous private beaches built around Anda Beach. Amazingly, the owners of those private havens see to it that they leave the secluded-ness of the place untouched. This means that you can enjoy all the amenities and features of a five-star hotel away from the hustle and bustle of the city ands till enjoy the purity of the beach. Aside from swimming and other fun water activities, singing is a favorite past time among Anda Beach visitors. Videoke machines, run by coins, are installed almost everywhere around the place. Beach volleyball is another favorite activity among Anda Beach explorers. Volleyball nets are put up to accommodate those who love the sport.

If you do not have that much money to spend, do not be alarmed. Anda Beach may be luxurious and posh at first sight but it is never exclusive to those who have the money to spend. The bigger part of the beach is public, meaning you can enjoy it for free. Those portions run by private owners come with a price but not as much as a Boracay vacation may charge.

Just around 30 to 40 minutes ( or some 9 kilometers) of car or bus travel from the airport or any transportation terminal in Tagbilaran brings us to the tranquil and pristine Laya Beach in Baclayon, Bohol. The place affords what an unspoiled seaside experience should be.

Going to Laya Beach is easy journey from Tagbilaran. Public bus or jeep fare will not cost us more than a dollar. But the best option here is to rent a car when traveling with 2 or 3 more passengers or a van when traveling with a group.
